2010 Olympic Torch Relay

Dear Members of the Maple Ridge BIA:

The 2010 Olympic Flame is passing through Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows the morning of Monday, February 8, 2010. 

On behalf of the Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Olympic Torch Relay Task Force, we would like to invite you to attend either or both the Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows celebration sites.

Celebrations will begin at Memorial Peace Park in Maple Ridge at 6:20am.   Festivities will include an official ceremony, entertainment, an unveiling from Spirit of Wood, hot beverages and a pancake breakfast.  Due to security reasons for the Olympic Games, we are not able to disclose to the public the exact times of when the Olympic Torch Relay is actually going through our communities.

As the invitations are open to the public and schools, a set number of participants are unknown.  However, we are expecting 700 to 1000 people to come out to celebrate. 

The organizers of the Olympic Torch Relay Task Force and citizens of Maple Ridge will be very grateful to have you as part of the celebration.  As always, we appreciate the inspiration and dedication that you bring to our communities.

The event is still in final planning stages of the event celebrations and we will be happy to share more details when finalized.  If you have any comments or questions regarding this event, please do not hesitate to contact me.
