The Treasure Hunt is a fun Shop Local initiative which aims to bring increased foot traffic into downtown businesses. The Treasure Hunt usually takes place during the month of August, and is geared towards all ages. Twenty downtown businesses participate in the Treasure Hunt, each store hiding a beach ball somewhere inside it. The challenge is to go and find the beach ball, taking a good hard look inside the business. Once the beach ball is found the Treasure Hunter approaches a staff member and indicates that they have found the beach ball. The staff member puts a stamp on the Hunter's passport, and gives a prize to each participating child. Once the Treasure Hunters have visited all twenty businesses and collected all twenty stamps, they can drop off their passports at the last participating business they visit, or bring them to the DMRBIA office (22362 Lougheed Hwy). The completed passport will be used as an entry into the grand prize draw of 20 prizes donated from the participating businesses; the draw will be held in the first week of September. We encourage Treasure Hunters to park their car and walk to each business - what could be better way to discover Maple Ridge! To participate, businesses purchase two ads and donate a gift certificate from their business to be used as a prize. All other supplies are provided by the DMRBIA. If your business would be interested in becoming a participating business in our Treasure Hunt, or would like more information about the event, please contact the office. |
