Downtown Businesses Come Together as a Community to Help Those in Need
The fall season is a time of gathering, sharing, and giving thanks, but it’s also a season when many families in our community struggle to make ends meet. Rising costs of living and the added pressures of colder months can make putting food on the table even more difficult. That’s why we’re inviting you to join us in making a difference, one donation at a time.
Throughout the campaign, you’ll find collection bins inside participating downtown businesses (full list coming soon!). These businesses are more than just places to shop, they are community partners who care deeply about helping our neighbours. By dropping off your donations while you’re out enjoying downtown, you’re supporting both local businesses and local families in need.
We’re collecting non-perishable food items, with the most urgent needs being:
Canned goods Rice & pasta Oats & cereal Soups Fruit cups Feminine products Baby diapers & formula
While these are the items needed most right now, the Friends in Need Food Bank welcomes all non-perishable donations. If you’d like to give in another way, cash donations are also greatly appreciated and help the food bank purchase fresh, nutritious essentials that aren’t always available through food drives.
Your contribution, no matter the size, truly matters. Together, our community can fill shelves, ease worries, and bring comfort to those facing tough times. It’s not just about food; it’s about showing compassion, sharing hope, and reminding one another that no one is alone.

I Love Downtown Maple Ridge Contest Rules, presented by the Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association (DMRBIA)
The total amount to be won under the Contest is valued at $2,342.00 in Gift Cards and product prizes (4 "Wonder Wallets valued at over $500 each to be awarded to 4 winners). First name drawn will receive the highest valued wallet, 2nd name drawn will received the 2nd highest valued wallet, 3rd name drawn will receive the 3rd highest valued wallet, and 4th name drawn will receive the 4th highest valued wallet.
The receipt / ballot must be submitted to an official I Love Downtown Maple Ridge ballot "box" participating business (participating businesses are listed above), or submitted to the DMRBIA office (#34 - 22374 Lougheed Highway, Maple Ridge, B.C.) by February 14, 2025.
Each receipt or official ballot entry form submitted must be:
from a business located in the Downtown Maple Ridge area,
an itemized / till-taped receipt or merchant specific ballot (incomplete ballots will be invalid). Debit/Credit card type receipts are not valid,
issued between February 1, 2025 and midnight February 14, 2025,
the original or a copy made at the DMRBIA office,
legibly inscribed with a contact name, primary telephone number
NO minimum purchase required,
not be for a returned item.
Alcohol and gaming/lottery purchases are excluded from the Contest.
In the event a merchant specific ballot is chosen, the DMRBIA will contact the merchant to confirm authenticity before contacting the winner. If missing information or deemed as a copy or forgery the ballot will be invalid and another winner will be drawn.
Winners will be contacted directly by the DMRBIA via the phone # provided on the entry (we are not responsible for incorrect or illegible writing - will result in a re draw), no answers will be left a message, if possible to do so, and must respond in 72 hours, after which time if no contact has been made a new winner will be drawn.
The gift certificate is not redeemable for cash, is redeemable only at the business shown on the gift certificate. Winner is responsible for reading and understanding the details provided on each gift card and contacting the business(es) to determine any special redemption specifics, such as requirement to redeem at one time.
One winning entry per household is eligible for one of the prizes.
The Contest is only open to individuals who are residents of British Columbia. The Contest is not open to directors, officers or employees of the Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association (DMRBIA), their respective affiliates, advertising or promotion agencies, or other representatives or agents, successors or assignees, members of those individual’s respective immediate families, or anyone with whom any of those individuals are domiciled. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entrants.
Unlimited entries allowed, but only one entry for each receipt.
CONSENT TO PERSONAL INFORMATION USE AND DISCLOSURE
By participating in the Contest, entrants consent to Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association's collection, use and disclosure of the personal information provided in contest entries for the administration of the Contests and in aggregated form in order to create reports regarding Contests entrant demographics, which reports Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association may disclose to others.
OTHER RULES
Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association and its representatives are not responsible or liable, jointly or severally, for any of the following:
erroneous, damaged, destroyed, lost, late, incomplete, illegible, incorrectly addressed or misdirected entries, regardless of the cause;
failure for any reason whatsoever of selected entrants to receive a prize notification;
changes in entrants’ telephone or email after entries are submitted;
computer, online, telephone, communication, or technical malfunctions or errors that may occur, regardless of the cause; or
damage or loss, including any loss of use, loss of production, loss of profits (anticipated or otherwise), loss of markets, economic loss, special, indirect or consequential loss or damage or punitive damages, whether in contract, tort or under any other theory of law or equity, arising from, connected with, or relating to the Contest, or the submission of entries to the Contest, or participation in the Contest, or the prize, and regardless of the cause or any negligence by any of Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association, or any person or entity for whom any of them are responsible, and notwithstanding that any of those entities or persons may have been advised of the possibility of such loss or damage being incurred. If for any reason Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association determines, at its sole discretion, that the Contest is not capable of being conducted as intended by Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association for any reason whatsoever, including tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or any other cause that corrupts or interferes with the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contests, Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association may in its sole discretion disqualify any entrant responsible for such misconduct and withdraw, cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend all or any part of the Contests by publishing a notice on the Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association website. Decisions by or selection of Contest winners by representatives of Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association regarding any and all aspects of the Contest are final and binding on all entrants.
The Contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations, and are void where prohibited by law. If any provision of these Rules is found by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unenforceable, all other provisions will remain in full force and effect.
The Contest is controlled by Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association, Maple Ridge, BC. The Contest and all related matters are governed solely by the laws of British Columbia, Canada and applicable federal laws of Canada, excluding any rules of private international law or the conflict of laws which would lead to the application of any other laws. Any dispute between Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association and you or any other person arising from, connected with or relating to the Contest, the submission of entries to the Contest, participation in the Contest, the Contest prizes or any related matters (“Disputes”) must be resolved before the Courts of British Columbia sitting in the City of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and by entering this Contest, hereby irrevocably submit and attorn to the original and exclusive jurisdiction of those courts in respect of all Disputes. Proceedings regarding Disputes must be commenced in a court of competent jurisdiction in the City of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada within six (6) months after the Dispute arises, after which time any and all proceedings regarding the Dispute are barred.
The names of the potential Contest winner may be obtained by entrants completing the relevant Sign Up / Entry Form at the contest location.
Participation in the Contests constitutes acceptance and agreement to these Rules.

In collaboration with the City of Maple Ridge, we are calling all businesses to grab some cleaning supplies and sweep away the cobwebs, polish your windows, remove winter's dust and bring freshness into your store or office space.
On Wednesday, May 14th, we’re inviting local businesses, community groups, and residents to join in and make our downtown shine brighter than ever. From 9:30 until 12:00 volunteers will be cleaning up the garbage along our streets and alleyways.
