HoliDAYS 2024 - Shop and Be Local for the Holidays
Dec. 1 to Dec. 24, 2024: A calendar guide from the Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association (DMRBIA) and participating businesses in downtown Maple Ridge.
This HoliDAYS CALENDAR guide will list events and promotions from the DMRBIA, it's members and partnering organizations. Shop & Be local for the holidays! From shopping, dining out and supporting services.

INSTANT PRIZE DAYS: Shoppers visit an assigned area in Downtown Maple Ridge hoping to find the Instant Prize location (there will only be one per day). View the HoliDAYS CALENDAR.
Shopper must make a purchase and make the statement "I'm shopping local for the holidays". First shopper to do so at the correct location wins the $100 gift card prize package ($25 gift card to the instant prize location and $75 (3 x $25) from the DMRBIA).
- Prize must be accepted as awarded and may not be exchanged or sold. Prize has no cash value.
To participate and claim prize:
- To win you must be the first shopper to make a purchase and say "I'm shopping local for the holidays" at the designated Instant Prize location - to find the prize location details will be specified in the HoliDAYS CALENDAR and on our social media ( Facebook and Instagram @shopmapleridge) for each day with a hint to the location via an assigned area of downtown Maple Ridge.
- To claim prize winner must agree to have their photo taken and posted on social media. Winner can request to be tagged as well. This will let other shoppers know the prize has been claimed for that day.
- If all requirements are met, the merchant will award the $100 in Gift Certificates to the winner (only one per day). Take the photo and post to social media.
* Any unclaimed Instant Prize Day Gift Certificates will be gathered and awarded through a New Year social media contest to be held mid-January 2025

The Contest is only open to individuals who are residents of British Columbia. WINNER’S ACCEPTANCE: upon accepting the prize as awarded at the "Instant Prize location" you hereby:

If the selected winner chooses to not accept and comply with these Rules, then at the DMRBIA's sole discretion the prize initially awarded to the selected entrant may be forfeited without any liability to the selected entrant or any other person, and another entrant may, at the DMRBIA's sole discretion, be selected by random draw in accordance with these Rules.
CONSENT TO PERSONAL INFORMATION USE AND DISCLOSURE
By participating in the Contest, entrants consent to Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association's collection, use and disclosure of the personal information provided in contest entries for the administration of the Contests and in aggregated form in order to create reports regarding Contests entrant demographics, which reports Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association may disclose to others.

Any dispute between Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association and you or any other person arising from, connected with or relating to the Contest, the submission of entries to the Contest, participation in the Contest, the Contest prizes or any related matters (“Disputes”) must be resolved before the Courts of British Columbia sitting in the City of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and by entering this Contest, hereby irrevocably submit and attorn to the original and exclusive jurisdiction of those courts in respect of all Disputes. GINGERBREAD MAN HUNT
Valley Fair Mall on Dec 4th | 4 - 6 pm
How to Participate:
- Visit the DMRBIA registration table at ValleyFair mall Dec. 4th at 4pm to register. Arrive on time as spots may be limited.
- You will be given a #’d bag assigned to your name to hunt and collect the gingerbread men hidden throughout the mall common areas as well as at a few select participating businesses. Everyone will start the “hunt” at the same time (4:45pm).
- Collect as many as you can in 30 mins. Return back to the registration table for counting at 5:15pm. Note that any purchases made while on the “hunt” can count as a point by placing the receipt in the bag with your gingerbread men. (Receipt must be dated Dec. 4 between 4-6pm and from a purchase at ValleyFair Mall).
- Collect the most and WIN! 3 prizes will be awarded for the 1st ($125) , 2nd ($50) and 3rd ($25) for most points in # of gingerbread men and/or receipts collected. Total prize values are in multiples of $25 Gift Certificates redeemable at over 93 downtown businesses.
- In the case of a tie or multiples with the same # collected each persons name will be placed in a draw and the winner will be the first name drawn.
- Prize must be accepted as awarded and may not be exchanged or sold. Prize has no cash value.

UGLY SWEATER CONTEST
Haney Place Mall on Dec 20th | 5:30 - 7:30 pm
How to Participate:
- Visit the DMRBIA registration table at Haney Place mall Dec. 20th at 5:30 pm to register. Arrive on time as spots may be limited.
- You will be assigned a # to attach to your ugly sweater and matched to your name and info.
- Judging and voting will begin at approx. 6:15 pm in centre court.
- This will be a LIVE VOTE so bring your friends (one vote each - no multiple votes allowed). Contestants are not eligible to vote.
- 3 prizes will be awarded for the 1st ($125) , 2nd ($50) and 3rd ($25) ugly sweaters with most votes respectively. Total prize values are in multiples of $25 Gift Certificates redeemable at over 93 downtown businesses.

WINDOW DECORATING CONTEST
Dec 1st to 31st
To vote for your favourites:
- Watch @shopmapleridge and participating members social media posts - like and/or share.
- Take a photo and tag the business name and @shopmapleridge.
- 3 Prize baskets of local goods and gift certificates will be awarded to the top 3 windows based on votes across all of Facebook and Instagram during the contest Dec. 1st to midnight Dec. 31st, 2024.
- Prize draw, winners announcements and deliveries will take place between Jan. 3 - 6, 2025.
- Prize must be accepted as awarded and may not be exchanged or sold. Prize has no cash value.
